The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards took place on a Tuesday.

Taylor Swift received eight nominations and won all televised categories, including artist of the year, video of the year, and song of the year for "Anti-Hero.

Beyoncé, Doja, Karol G, Minaj, and Shakira were also nominated for artist of the year, making it the first time all nominees in this category were women.

Shakira was honored with the Video Vanguard Award.

A new category, Best Afrobeats, was introduced at the awards.

Performers at the ceremony included Demi Lovato, Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B with Megan Thee Stallion, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, and Fall Out Boy.

Miley Cyrus was nominated for "Flowers," but Taylor Swift won the Artist of the Year award.

Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" also won Song of the Year.

Ice Spice was named Best New Artist.

The Best K-Pop award went to Stray Kids for their song "S-Class."
